Chris Crocker was in the building.
I got the "Leave Britney Alone" guy to stop by the Planet Gossip show’s studios in Los Angeles for some face time with me and my PG cohost, Tina Dirmann.
The 19-year-old from Tennessee told us he has some more Spears surprises up his sleeve. He wants to get a tattoo in homage to the pop princess. He was thinking of getting inked with an image of her new album cover art but worried that would remind him too much of the hard times.
Instead, he’ll probably go for her first album, 1999's …Baby One More Time.
Crocker insisted that the now famous—or infamous, depending on how you look at it—meltdown is real. “If anything, I thought it would turn off my usual viewers,” said Crocker, who had already established a growing fan base through his online videos before "Leave Britney Alone." “They’re not used to me talking about pop-culture stuff.”
But he’s no dummy. He knew the clip would give him buzz. “I’ve known I’m going to be a performer all my life,” he said. “Not that this was really performing, but it was entertaining, I guess you could say…It’s surreal, but I expected my big break sometime soon."
