There are a few qualities to DC Comics' fan-favorite demon hunter John Constantine that you just don't mess with, both physical and not: His iconic trenchcoat. His go-to rumpled white button down shirt. His tie. His sarcastic wit. And his accent.
But when Constantine airs this Friday, John (Matt Ryan) is going to sound extremely different from the comic book antihero we all know and love...because he's going Southern!
Wait, what?! Yeah, you read that right. And we have your exclusive first look at the mind-boggling accent switch-up!
Watch the exclusive clip from this week's episode above now!
When Constantine and Zed (Angelica Celaya) try to visit a patient in a hospital, John is forced to use a special blend of con magic and Southern charm to get what he needs...and we have to say, he pulls of "Southern Gentleman" quite nicely!
We knew we loved Ryan as Constantine before, but now it's official: we can't imagine anyone else playing this beloved comic book character!
But we're going to need to learn more about that magic card that transforms itself into whatever its holder requires. Sounds like a mobile Room of Requirement to us, and we never knew how much we needed something like that until now. But that "bloody" past sounds super questionable...
Constantine airs Fridays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
