Are Leighton Meester and hubby Adam Brody ready to have kids?
In the latest issue of Nylon, the 28-year-old actress is opening up about the idea of expanding her family and it sounds like she may soon be following in the pregnant footsteps of her Gossip Girl co-star Blake Lively.
"Most people I know are starting to get married," Meester recently told the mag. "It'll be kids next. I like the grown-up stuff. I like having a house. I've got dogs."
Meester also reflected on getting her big break on Gossip Girl. "I started the show when I was so young, and once it was over, I wanted to do things that were exciting and challenging and more me—more my adult taste," she dished. "Of course, that's said with nothing but gratitude and love for that experience in that time of my life."
These days, Meester admits it can be hard to find roles for complex female characters.
"As far as scripts go, the roles of women standing alone on their own as whole, real, full people are few and far between," she said, adding of her latest films, "So with both of those roles [Life Partners and Like Sunday, Like Rain], what I loved is that neither of them are centered around romantic relationships. They're flawed, real human beings that I could break down and really enjoy playing. They're like me, in a way."
"For my own sanity, I'd rather play parts that I haven't done before," she continued. "That's why I was so excited by the Of Mice and Men experience. I felt that I was part of something that meant something, and that was important to me. From now on, I would like to be part of projects that have a message."
