What made Kate Hudson think pink?
The iconic blond recently debuted her rosy new hair hue on Instagram. "In honor of my bestie Juliana, my assistant Kathy, my grandmother Laura, Mimo and all the people who are fighting and have fought breast cancer. Your courage shines and inspires," the 35-year-old Bride Wars actress wrote Oct. 17. "We decided to show our support by wearing pink proud! Thank you @majormoonn for taking us there."
When Hudson attended the American Cinematheque Award ceremony in Beverly Hills four days later, she shined in a strapless Jenny Packham dress, Casadei heels and Chrome Hearts jewelry. Regarding her makeover, the star told E! News, "It was my son's idea. He thought we should do something for breast cancer awareness and thought dyeing our hair would be fun, so we did it!" Hudson's elder son Ryder Robinson, 10, is rocking blue hair with a pink streak, while her mom Goldie Hawn, 68, has a pink streak.
The event wasn't about Hudson's hair, notable as it may be.
Hudson honored Matthew McConaughey, her co-star in 2003's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and 2008's Fool's Gold. Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway and Reese Witherspoon also fêted their former co-star.
