Looks like Katy Perry will simply have to settle for channeling her inner Cleopatra

The 29-year-old pop star has canceled her birthday trip to Egypt, multiple sources confirm to E! News. The "Fireworks" singer, who will ring in the big 3-0 on Oct. 25 during a brief break from her wildly popular Prismatic world tour, was scheduled to travel to Egypt, where, as a source previously told E! News, she was "planning on taking a cruise on the Nile River in Egypt and dressing up like Cleopatra."

And if you recall Katy Perry's music video for her hit "Dark Horse" then you know pop princess is a fan of anything Egyptian-themed, even referring to herself as "Katy Pätra" in the clip.

We're told Perry pulled the plug on her vacation due to political issues in Egypt. In addition to her cruise down the Nile, a second source told E! News that Perry was also expected to travel to Morocco, South Africa and Paris. No word yet if she still plans to proceed with the remainder of her scheduled birthday bash.

Regardless, the "California Gurl" already received one special birthday surprise: her name is on the Shakey's pizza sign! After Perry tweeted the popular pizza chain, saying "All I want for my birthday is my name on the Shakey's Pizza marquee," the restaurant happily obliged, and the singer was thrilled, posting on Instagram that she was "kicking off my birthday week right."

Meanwhile, Perry has been hard at work on her tour, which grossed $31 million from the North American leg. She will launch the Australia-New Zealand leg of the tour on Nov. 7—her first performance being in Perth—which will continue through Dec. 20 before she takes the show to Europe on Feb. 16., wrapping up in Stockholm on March 22.

Happy early birthday, Katy!
