It's official!

Saturday Night Live has promoted Leslie Jones from writer (and frequent guest star on Weekend Update) to full-time cast member.

The announcement comes on the heels of a big shakeup for the weekly segment, with The Daily Show's Michael Che replacing Cecily Strong just last month.

Che had been promoted from writer to Weekend Update anchor beginning in September at the start of the 40th season, and Pete Davidson was also added to SNL's roster as well.

Jones has been working at 30 Rock as a staff writer for the show since early this year and was one of the 12 finalists vying for a cast member role last year. Deadline was the first to break the news.

The spot eventually went to Sasheer Zamata, but now it looks like Jones is getting her turn in the spotlight as well.

Jones has already made quite a name for herself on the show with her minimal appearances on the news segment, including her controversial skit on slavery back in May.

The comedian has also starred in The League, Workaholics, and this coming winter's Top Five.

Jones tweeted her excitement after the good news was released, saying, "It's official I'm a cast member!!! Get ready! Get ready!!"

E! News previously reported that there were massive changes in the cast for this current SNL season.

Brooks Wheelan, Noel Wells, John Milhiser, and Nasim Pedrad all did not return for season 40.

Wheelan, Wells, and Milhiser had only been on the show for one year, while Pedrad had been a member of the cast since 2009.

(E! and NBC are both part of the same NBCUniversal family.)
