It looks like Lorde's air time on San Francisco radio is going to come to a screeching halt during the 2014 World Series...

Local radio station KFOG announced that they would be putting a ban on the New Zealand native's mega hit "Royals" after listeners called in and claimed that the song could be interpreted as an endorsement for the Kansas City Royals (who, for those who aren't following, is playing against the San Francisco Giants).

"No offense, Lorde, but for the duration of the World Series, KFOG Radio will be a "Royals"-free zone. We're sure you understand," they wrote on their Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Kansas City radio station 99.7 The Point is countering by playing the track on the hour, every hour, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., on opening night.

And the connection makes some sense, considering that the young singer revealed that the inspiration for the single came after she saw a photo of Kansas City Royals star George Brett.

"I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs," Lorde previously dished to VH1.

"He was a baseball player and his shirt said, 'Royals.' I really love that word…I'll pick a word and I'll pen an idea to that. It was just that word that I was like, 'This is really cool.'"

And just months later, the teen came face-to-face with the original inspiration behind her breakout single when the two met at her concert in Las Vegas.

"And now you're Royal. @lordemusic meets @Royals icon George Brett," MLB tweeted next to a snapshot of the two smiling.
