The 36-year-old human rights lawyer is in Athens, Greece this week with members of her law firm to argue the case of the Parthenon Marbles, the ancient Greek statues which are partially housed in the British Museum in London. Clooney has been meeting with Greek officials the past few days to help Greece win back the prized antiquities from England.
"This is an injustice that has persisted for too long," George Clooney's wife said during a press conference Wednesday. "A horseman's head is in Athens and his body is in London," she said of one of the marble statues. "Poseidon's torso is separated between Greece and the U.K. This means that they cannot be celebrated and appreciated as a whole in the country they came from."
She added, "Now is the time to right that wrong."
Clooney, who professionally changed her name from Amal Alamuddin to Amal Clooney after her Venice wedding last month, was also asked about her Oscar-winning hubby and his thoughts on the case of the Parthenon Marbles.
"I would just hope that, even at this very early stage in marriage, I am wise enough to know that it's up to my husband to choose which cause he wants to support or not," she told the press. Great answer!
Amal and George tied the knot on Sept. 27 surrounded by friends and family, including celebs like Bill Murray, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.
