InstagramOprah Winfrey has accomplished more than most people could ever dream, and on Wednesday, the 60-year-old TV titan checked another item off her bucket list: truffle hunting with her soul sister Gayle King!
King, 59, Instagrammed picture of herself posing on lounge chair Winfrey and daughter Kirby Bumpus. "Getting ready for truffle hunt in Italy heard it is best to lounge in Perugia first with favorite daughter and @oprah!" the CBS This Morning co-anchor said. Before the trio's adventure began, however, King decided to go for a quick run through the Relais Todini winery in Perugia, Italy. And yes, Winfrey's BFF took a selfie.
When in Rome, right? (Well, near Rome.)
Just before they set out for the day, Winfrey posed for an Instagram photo with four men and five dogs. "Let the hunt begin! Truffle hunting in Umbria. #Bucketlist," the Hundred-Foot Journey producer wrote.
In another photo, Winfrey held up "white truffles," which are "like gold to the hunters."
"This dog 'Nick' is a star! #UmbriaBucketList," she added.
The visit is a highlight for Winfrey, who loves truffles of all kinds. When she published her "Favorite Things" list in O, The Oprah Magazine's December 2012 issue, for example, she wrote, "How do I love truffle butter? Let me count the ways. On a baked potato, on grilled steak, on a sourdough baguette. The truffle salt turns scrambled eggs, popcorn, even plain old cottage cheese into a major thrill."
Winfrey announced plans to hunt for truffles in August 2014. "I'm a truffle fiend! I walk around with truffle salt. That's on my rider whenever I arrive at a hotel: truffle salt, truffle oil," she said. "I want to go do the truffle hunt with the pigs in October. Yeah!" When Winfrey brought her Life You Want Tour to Washington, D.C., the following month, she told an audience member, "I hadn't thought of having a bucket list. But so many of you, since this is your bucket list, I'm now thinking I might make a bucket list!"
"Every summer I've planned this and never did it," the Harpo Productions CEO said. "On the way to South Africa this time, I'm stopping in Italy and I'm going in on a truffle hunt with the pigs and the dogs. That has been on my list for a long time. This year I'm finally going to do that!" Winfrey actually flew to Italy after visiting South Africa, where The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls is located. "O Happy Day. Another class graduates," she Instagrammed. "Congratulations 'Paragons' of OWLAG 2014!"
