Attention: You're finally going to be able to relinquish control of your mom's HBO Go, because come 2015, the cable network will provide a streaming service as a stand-alone product.

HBO chairman and CEO Richard Plepler made the announcement at the Time Warner Inc. investor meeting. Details such as pricing weren't revealed, but the announcement has generated excitement, especially amongst cord-cutters.

"That is a large and growing opportunity that should no longer be left untapped. It is time to remove all barriers to those who want HBO," Plepler said. "So, in 2015, we will launch a stand-alone, over-the-top, HBO service in the United States. We will work with our current partners. And, we will explore models with new partners. All in, there are 80 million homes that do not have HBO and we will use all means at our disposal to go after them."

HBO Go currently offers HBO's stock of flicks and entire season runs of its new and past shows including The Sopranos, Sex and the City and Oz. Current episodes of programs hit the streaming service shortly after air.

Now this means you'll have to give your mom back her HBO Go account and show her how to set it up and use it. So you'll have no excuse as to why you have never seen The Comeback!
