Today is World Mental Health Day, and one famous daughter is using the occasion to spread awareness and honor her father, Robin Williams.

Zelda Williams took to Twitter Friday to give her thoughts on the subject of mental illness.

Williams tweeted, "Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. Mental illness is often misunderstood & misrepresented, but that's starting to change. Let's end the stigma." She then went on to post a series of follow-up tweets. In these, she urged people to support those who need help and to reach out if they need it as well.

The actress also tweeted the names of several mental health charities, including Barrow Neurological Foundation and Hope for the Warriors.

Finally, she ended by tweeting, "Lastly, my dad openly fought depression his whole life, both in general and his own. No matter what anyone says, it is a FIGHT. Fight on."

The 25-year-old Zelda took to Tumblr back in August, penning a heartbreaking goodbye note to her father following his death. In part, the statement read, "Dad was, is and always will be one of the kindest, most generous, gentlest souls Ive ever known, and while there are few things I know for certain right now, one of them is that not just my world, but the entire world is forever a little darker, less colorful and less full of laughter in his absence. Well just have to work twice as hard to fill it back up again."

We couldn't agree more.
