Andy Samberg is not an alien, and Seth Meyers is not an 10-year-old boy...
Somehow, though, the Saturday Night Live alums pulled off a nearly perfect recreation of E.T.'s iconic flying bicycle scene!
On Late Night Thursday, Seth explained that People asked if the twosome wanted to "recreate a scene from a movie like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
And while Seth and the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star thought "that sounds great," they told the mag they'd "rather do something like E.T."
He pulled up a still from the 1982 flick, acknowledging, "You might be thinking, 'How could you and Andy do that?'"
Well, in a People TV behind-the-scenes clip, Andy and Seth can be seen making movie magic (a still of it, anyway!). The guys also talk about watching the film on VHS when they were growing up and hoping to carry that tradition on someday with their own (future) children.
"It's definitely the kind of movie you can't wait to show to your kids," said Seth, adding jokingly, "If I don't have kids, I'll show it to someone else's kids!"
"It's a home run," added Andy, "and I think the guy who directed it [Steven Spielberg] is going places!"
" think we nailed it," said Seth, "really, really nailed it!"
