Scarlett Johansson is heading to the small screen!

The 29-year-old actress, who gave birth to daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac last month, will star in an eight-episode period series based on Edith Wharton's 1913 novel The Custom of the Country, Deadline reports.

Johansson will play the role of Undine Spragg, a young woman from the Midwest who attempts to scale her way up the New York City social ladder. She will also executive produce the series, which is being adapted for TV by screenwriter Christopher Hampton.

The actress is certainly going to have her hands full in the coming months. In addition to this new role and a newborn baby, Johansson has a wedding to plan! She and fiancé Romain Dauriac have been engaged since September 2013. A source told E! News they were "not getting married until after the baby," but now that little Rose has arrived, there's no real reason to postpone their "I do's" if they don't want to.

It's important to Johansson to keep her life as a working mom balanced. "It seems so stressful to not be able to spend time with your family because you're constantly chasing the tail of your own success," she told The Wall Street Journal earlier this year. "There must exist a world in which I can balance those things, be able to raise a family and still make a film a year, or work on my own, develop things, do theater. I want to be able to have it all."

"I know that with that there will be some sacrifices," she said. "I know that's the struggle with working mothers and successful careers. It happens."
