TwitterAmanda Bynes returned to Twitter Tuesday.
The actress' verified account had been inactive since May 15. Now that she's back in New York City, however, she decided to use the social networking site to address rumors about her recent behavior. "Don't believe anything the tabloids are saying about me," she tweeted. "They dislike me for some odd reason & they continue to insult me everyday." Addressing her 3 million followers, the former What I Like About You star, 28, tweeted, "Treat others how you want to be treated. The truth will set you free."
Bynes, who was studying fashion in California earlier this year, also tweeted that she's "transferring to NYU or Columbia from FIDM to study psychology," adding, "You'll see me in New York if you live here."
That wasn't an invitation to approach her in the streets, however. "I HATE stalkers!" she wrote.
Bynes arrived in the Big Apple Friday, less than a week after she had been arrested on suspicion of DUI outside L.A. She was charged with a misdemeanor, held on $15,000 bail and released later within hours.
In the summer of 2013, Bynes left New York—where her erratic behavior made her a tabloid fixture—and was later hospitalized after starting a small fire in a California neighbor's driveway. The actress was then placed under her parents' care via a court-ordered conservatorship. Bynes checked in to rehab for mental illness later that fall before enrolling at Irvine's Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. The conservatorship ended Sept. 10, and since then, Bynes' behavior has once again come into question.
"The first signs of problems came days after the conservatorship ended," a source told E! News. Bynes' parents had exchanged greetings since then, but as her dad said, "She is 28. She does what she wants."
