STRINGER/EPA /LANDOVOne Direction fans probably daydream about what they'd do if they ever got the chance to meet the boys they swoon over, and while many would like to think they'd remain cool, calm and collected during the event, chances are they'd freak out.
And that's totally understandable. After all, you're getting the opportunity to meet a celebrity you admire, but what's even more interesting is the fact that stars also get that way when they meet other big A-listers (see, you're not alone!).
In their book Who We Are, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik each recall certain celeb encounters that caused them to turn into fanboys—so cute!
So which stars made them have a little freakout of their own? Quite a few, actually...
Justin Timberlake: Niall recalled a time he literally almost hurled from getting to meet J.T., writing, "To make matters worse, as he walked off, Justin Timberlake came over to say hello and I was absolutely bricking it by then, nearly swallowing my own puke."
The Obamas: "Around that time we also met Michelle Obama, and I have to say she was unbelievable. Her daughters were lovely too...They're the most humble people ever and were made to be the President's daughters," Horan continued. "I'm a huge Obama fan—I even have a statue of him in my back garden!"
Will Smith: Liam wrote, "When we met Will Smith I just said, ‘Hello, I'm a big fan.' I didn't want to stand there and say, ‘Ah, Will, matey, how's the wife and kids?!'"
David Beckham: "Then to my shock he came straight over and said, ‘Hey, how are you doing, Liam?' and shook my hand! I was like, This is mad! David Beckham just gave me the nod from the other side of the room. That's sick! I tell all my mates this story," Payne added.
Tomlinson recalled missing that meeting, but got his facetime with Beckham later on. "The first time [David Beckham] was around the band no one told me and I missed him altogether! I went bonkers and was proper gutted...Fortunately, we later got invited to the film premiere for Class of '92...and David Beckham was there again! This time I got to meet him and he was lovely. I thought about trying to play it cool, but it's so hard around someone like that."
Martin Scorcese: Styles wrote, "[Martin Scorcese] came to meet us backstage at Madison Square Garden and that was just the most surreal moment."
Johnny Depp: "We'd heard [Johnny Depp's] kids were fans of the band, which was cool," Tomlinson shared. "Originally he was going to come down to a show with his family, but he had an injury of some kind and was on crutches, so he said, ‘I can't make it. So why don't you come down to my house and meet the kids?' We were like ‘Er, OK. Let's all pile round Johnny Depp's house. Great!' So we did, and that was a great experience."
Rihanna: As you may remember, the 1D boys were luckily seated close to the Barbados beauty during the MTV Video Music Awards. "We were at the VMAs and Rihanna was sitting in front of us. ‘Louis!' I said, ‘Look, there's Rihanna!' I was well impressed by that and we ended up chatting her up a bit," Niall wrote.
