These aren't the types of phrases you'd expect to hear shouted from a bullhorn during your average fashion show, but then again—Chanel isn't your average fashion show.
Karl Lagerfeld rallied together some of the runway's heaviest hitters, including Gisele Bündchen, Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner, for a feminist protest-themed spring 2015 fashion show in Paris Tuesday morning.
The models, or rather, "protesters" closed out the show with a giant faux rally led by Gisele and company. Whitney Houston's "I'm Every Woman" played over the loudspeakers while the models marched. Some shouted through bullhorns (with the quilted Chanel label on them, naturally) and others held signs that read things like, "Free Freedom" and "Be Your Own Stylist!"
The show was one giant display of girl power, and it comes on the heels of Emma Watson's now-viral speech on gender equality at the United Nations last week.
You also might ask, what about the clothes? This is Paris Fashion Week, after all. Before the rally, there was an actual runway show—with models including Kendall, Cara and Gisele donning sleek '70s-esque ensembles, military-inspired getups and wide-legged trousers (as well as Chanel's signature fabric, tweed) in a palette of black, white and pops of vibrant purple.
While the feminist rally may seem like an elaborate show, Karl Lagerfeld is known for his over-the-top staging. This is the same guy who once had a giant, real iceberg erected inside the Grand Palais for his artic-themed show in 2010.
And let's not forget last season when Lagerfeld turned his runway into a fully stocked supermarket, compete with Chanel-branded eggs, bread and even a honey-baked ham.
Between the iceberg, supermarket and now a feminist rally, we can't wait to see what Lagerfeld has up his sleeve (or rather, underneath his trademark biker gloves) next season!
