"Goodbye."

There was something so powerful in the way Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) whispered that on The Good Wife as she left Lockhart/Gardner and Canning, the law firm she started all those years ago. It was triumphant and a little bittersweet with a mix of excitement and possible fear as the elevator doors closed. It could've been the perfect way to end the series (if we weren't following the education of Alicia Florrick) or write Diane out (which should never, ever happen).

The case of the week in "Trust Issues" was admittedly forgettable and dealt with Chum Hum, Deena Lampard and Patric Edelstein. Really, the best part about it was the return of Lorraine Joy, a woman who interviewed Alicia (Julianna Margulies) way back in the day. Alicia trounced her and we got this great interaction:

"I should've hired you. You're an assassin."

"Your mistake."

Meanwhile, Diane and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) worked to get Cary (Matt Czuchry) out of jail. They interviewed Lemond Bishop's three key players and Kalinda figured out who is the confidential informant, but she needs him alive and resists telling Bishop…and Bishop has one of his men killed thinking he was the leak. This is going to be tricky. Thanks to their success in the Chum Hum deposition, Florrick/Agos and Lockhart (yep, it's official!) got an advance on their retainer and used the funds to get Cary out on bail. Finally! Although it was only two episodes, it felt like Cary was locked up forever. And then there's the hug Alicia and Cary shared at the end. Their first ever hug?!

"This is the first time we've done this, isn't?"

"I think so."

This episode we also met Taye Diggs' character Dean Levine-Wilkins, a Lockhart/Gardner attorney who was in New York and apparently one of Diane's proteges. Couldn't help but feel adding another character to the growing cast was unnecessary, but we'll have to wait and see.

Eli (Alan Cumming) continued his quest to get Alicia to run for State's Attorney. He had Valerie Jarrett, one of President Barack Obama's real-life advisors, call Alicia with a script to try and convince her to run. A wealthy guy even tried to give Alicia the money for Cary's bail because of the gossip over her running.

The episode was paced well and all the moving parts were balanced in an expert manner.

Gasp count: 0

Some other things:

"Let's go through these sexts one at a time," Alicia saying sexts.

"I don't know. The future's weird," Alicia Florrick, always with the words of wisdom.

Can Florrick/Agos really have that many more people at their firm?

Maybe we'll get a hug between Alicia and Kalinda soon! Probably not, but we can dream, people.

Loved the interaction between Cary and Alicia while he was behind bars. The tension in the beginning and then the coaching, it was
