George Clooney is almost a married man!

On Saturday, the 53-year-old arrived via water taxi with his father, Nick Clooney, to a hotel in Venice, Italy, where he is set to wed Amal Alamuddin, 36, in front of family and friends. Guests, including co-stars such as Matt Damon and Bill Murray, as well as U2 rocker Bono and longtime friends Rande Gerber and wife and supermodel Cindy Crawford also made their way through the Grand Canal to watch their friend get hitched (see photos).

As George made his way to his wedding, he joked with several members of the paparazzi who have been following him and his fiancée since they arrived in the city. Scores of tourists and locals have also flocked to the area, with many cheering as they spotted the celebrities on their boats.

"I'm great!" a source quoted him as saying. "It's been a long day but I'm holding up alright I think!"

The actor had earlier in the day had breakfast with Gerber and Crawford at another hotel. After their meal, he had a bottle of his Casamigos tequila brought to several of the photographers who were waiting outside.

"Don't drink a whole bottle at once" he said with a smile before waving and going back inside.

George and his friends, including Gerber, had also enjoyed several bottles of his tequila at a bachelor party at a posh local restaurant on Friday.

George and Alamuddin, a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer, have been dating for about a year and their engagement was revealed in April.

This will mark the second marriage for George, who was previously married to Mad Men actress Talia Balsam. Italy has a special place in the actor's heart. He has a home in Lake Como, located about three hours away from Venice.
