With 2015 almost upon us, we're eagerly anticipating the premiere of E!'s brand new scripted drama series The Royals!

And we've got an official behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming series, where The Royals cast and creator Mark Schwahn dish on the meaning of royalty and the show!

"The Royals is a fictional royal family in modern-day London," Mark explains. "When you add social media and a vibrant city, fashion, music, sex—you can go anywhere with that."

Mark is also known for One Tree Hill, which he created and produced. The Royals will offer a fictional look at life within the palace and what goes on behind those gilded gates—as well as what happens when the youngest heir to the throne falls in love with an American girl (Merritt Patterson) from a different social class.

"We show you everything," William Moseley (who plays Prince Liam) reveals. "The magic of being in a palace, and we also show you the torture chambers essentially."

"It's what the public sees," Elizabeth Hurley adds. "And what the public will never see."

The show will also star Alexandra Park as Princess Eleanor—the wild child of Hurley's and Vincent Regan's characters.

In other exciting news regarding the show, 81-year-old soap legend Joan Collins has been cast to play the Duchess of Oxford—the mother to Hurley's character, Queen Helena.

The ensemble cast also includes Jake Maskall, Ukweli Roach, Tom Austen, Sophie Colquhoun, and Oliver Milburn.
