UPDATE: Jeter singled in the winning run. Walk-off victory. No big deal. Actually, what we mean is, most perfect ending ever.

So much fanfare, so many tributes, so many moments to remember.
Set to retire at season's end (so, in a few days), Derek Jeter is playing his final home game at Yankee Stadium tonight.
So far, the New York Yankees' beloved shortstop has set the Internet ablaze by smacking an RBI double in his first at-bat and then scoring a run to tie the score, 2-2, against the Baltimore Orioles.
But while the atmosphere on the field is surely electric, the Twitterverse isn't doing so bad, either—especially those producers at the Late Show With David Letterman, some of whom are really bringing the funny to this bittersweet occasion.
Hey, we may as well have a healthy dose of humor to make the reality of Jeter's retirement go down easier before the tears start flowing. Here's a sampling of some of the best the fans, skeptics, comedians, Keith Olbermann and more have had to offer so far:
I hope Derek Jeter follows in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and now begins his lifelong dream of playing Basketball.

Everyone in the stadium thought that was a home run. A double for Derek Jeter off the tippy-top of the wall will do.

I am the furthest thing from a Yankees fan, but if you don't respect Jeter, you don't respect baseball. #JetersLastHomeGame #RE2PECT
