Most people don't get married on Mondays.
Then again, Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French aren't most people. The celebrity couple wed just outside Santa Barbara, Calif., on Sept. 8, following a 13-month engagement. When the High School Musical tar, 29, phoned in to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday, the host, 39, jokingly asked her if she decided to get married on a Monday to "throw people off" or if she was "bargain shopping."
"It definitely was for two reasons," she said. "The 8th was our anniversary so I wanted to land on an 8th, and thankfully it landed on a Monday in September. Also, I figured it was a good idea, because I figured out like, 'Oh, I don't think anybody would figure this one out,' and that was to protect the privacy of it."
The bride wore a Monique Lhuillier gown, while the groom wore John Varvatos suit. Vanessa Hudgens served as bridesmaid, and celebrity guests included 90210's Shenae Grimes and her husband, Josh Beech. Tisdale broke the news of her nuptials via Instagram. "It was very awesome," the newlywed said. After tying the knot, Tisdale and French honeymooned in Bora Bora. The two recently returned home.
Speaking to CBS about married life, the "Crank It Up" singer said, "I'm very excited. I'm very happy. It's been something that you prepare for a year. I had to be really quiet about it because I wanted to make sure it was super quiet and intimate. The fact that nobody knew we got married was unbelievable!"
Not much has changed since Tisdale and French made things official. "It felt like I was married before or something—I guess because we act that way. It definitely feels amazing," she said. "It feels different but doesn't. It's like I married my best friend. It's the best feeling in the world. This relationship was definitely different from any other relationship I ever had...Nothing is forced. It's the best feeling ever."
