OK, we know this season of Dancing With the Stars has already been cast, but just for future reference: The show needs Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

The Modern Family funnyman was a guest on Ellen, and the two began talking about the popular competition reality show after Ellen DeGeneres brought up that the actor's mother has openly expressed her desire for her famous son to compete for the mirror-ball trophy.

"She called me and told me this…I guest judge sometimes on So You Think You Can Dance and my mom also loves when I judge on the show," Ferguson explains. "And she thought because I'm a judge on So You Can Think You Can Dance, I should then, in turn, be a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. I don't know how the two correlate. I'm never dancing on So You Think You Can Dance. She really thinks I'm qualified to be on Dancing With the Stars."

While we see no flaw in his mother's theory, Ellen decided to put Ferguson to the test and made him audition (impromptu celeb dance breaks? Yes, please!).

The talk show host (who can also break it down with the best of 'em) called out four different styles of dance, and Jesse had to bust a move accordingly. It was great. The actor went from Bollywood to salsa to modern—his favorite, apparently—and ended on some hip-hop.

He didn't hold back, either. Ferguson brought the emotion in the face, kept his moves sharp and even got on the ground to fully express himself. In conclusion, he'd probably win DWTS.

But nothing we say will give his performance any justice, so watch for yourself in the clip below!
