Who could forget Ana Gasteyer's impersonation of Martha Stewart?

The former Saturday Night Live star appeared on Late Night Monday and attempted to make amends with the One Pot author. "When you impersonate people, sometimes you get pretty close to the line," host Seth Meyers said. Gasteyer agreed with him, saying, "I actually have a public apology that I'd like to issue to Martha. She's backstage and hopefully not snacking on the cheese plate and she'll hear it."

Looking directly into the camera, Gasteyer read her letter aloud.

"Dear, Martha: First of all, I apologize for not writing this letter in calligraphy. Martha, I have nothing but respect and fear for you. When I was learning how to impersonate you, I did as much research as possible. I wanted to dig deep and get inside your head, and instead I dug through your beautifully organized dumpsters and I re-gifted your fish tank. And for that, I'm sorry," the former Suburgatory actress, 47, told the businesswoman, 73. "I apologize for the time I did my impression of you topless. This apology really isn't for Martha but more for all the small children who were there that day."

"I apologize for selling my water bong with your name on it as part of my Own Martha Stewart Living collection. Also, I'm sorry for pretending to be you in restaurants. By the way, you're banned from all the bathrooms at Chipotle Times Square. I'm sorry for giving the 2004 University of New Hampshire commencement speech as Martha Stewart, which started out well, but devolved into a curse-laden tirade. That wasn't fair. It wasn't fair Martha. And I apologize for consistently mispronouncing the following words when I impersonated you: 'herb,' 'oregano' and 'chutzpah.' In my defense, that is how you pronounce 'herb,' 'oregano' and 'chutzpah,'" she said. "Finally, I apologize for sending my drone to mockingly photograph your drone a couple of weeks ago. I hope you can accept this apology. I'm looking forward to cooking with you tonight. Please don't hit me over the head with your cast iron skillet."

Later in the episode, Stewart showed Gasteyer and Meyers how to prepare a recipe from her latest cookbook. She showed them linguine, risotto with Brussels sprouts, chocolate chip cookies and more. At one point, Stewart even demonstrated how to slice cherry tomatoes into perfect halves. As Gasteyer got to work, Meyers helped himself to some of the savory dishes Stewart prepared prior to the segment.

"These recipes are really meant for the busy person," Stewart explained, "like you, me, Ana." Gasteyer told her, "I'm pretty busy," to which Stewart quipped, "Yeah, I bet you are! You sound very occupied—writing apology letters about seven years too late." Stewart added, "Actually, I love your impersonations of me. They were very, very accurate. But I still say 'herb,' I still say 'oregano,' and I do say 'chutzpah.'"
