What, what, what?

Game of Thrones season 5 may feature a familiar face that you probably didn't expect to see again.

Spoiler alert!

On the season 4 finale of the HBO show, which aired in June, the ruthless Tywin Lannister appeared to meet his end while sitting on a different kind of, ahem, throne, courtesy of his son Tyrion Lannister, played by Emmy winner Peter Dinklage. He had just broken out of jail and was presumably not happy about finding his former love (and the woman who helped put him behind bars) in his dad's bed (read a recap).

Charles Dance, who has played the elder character on Game of Thrones since its 2011 debut, recently dropped a hint about season 5 in an on-air interview with MTV UK that was posted online on Friday.

"I'm not completely missing out on the next series. More than that, I'm not going to say," Dance said, laughing. "You haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I'll say."

Game of Thrones is based on George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Tyrion's killing of his father is detailed in book 3, A Storm of Swords. The fourth novel, A Feast for Crows, reveals Tywin is indeed dead and is given a funeral, attended by his other children Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister. During the memorial, Tywin's daughter is bothered by her late father's facial expression and also recalls a memory of him being ridiculed at a feast.

Season 5 of Game of Thrones is expected to premiere in early spring of 2015. It was confirmed earlier this month that two characters are definitely not set to appear in the new episodes.

Meanwhile, at least nine newcomers are joining the show, including Alexander Siddig, who played Dr. Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
