The Smash star and hubby Brian Gallagher welcomed a baby girl Thursday in New York City, the actress's rep confirmed to E! News Friday. So what did the Broadway star and her actor hubby name their new little lady? Viola Philomena!
Just as the 33-year-old actress told E! News back in June, she did indeed steer clear of the quirky Hollywood naming route. "There are no fruits or animals or food in general for her name," she promised.
"We have three possibilities and we are not telling anybody," she said. "We're just gonna meet her first and see which one fits her."
And it looks like Viola Philomena was the winner!
Megan was already looking forward to being a mom then, but she was "most excited about him being a dad," she said, pointing to her hubby, "and to get to do this with the best partner in the world."
Viola Philomena's parents said "I do" last November at the Venetian chapel in Las Vegas. At the time, the new Mrs. Gallagher gushed to People, "We were so excited to be married that we skipped the engagement altogether!"
So why'd they say I do in Sin City? "I love Vegas," she told E! News after the fact, "And I love The Palazzo and The Venetian, so we got married in The Venetian and stayed there for the weekend. It was a very intimate setting, we had our parents and our siblings—he's from New York and I'm from Seattle, so they met in Vegas."
More of the lovebirds' family and friends got to celebrate a few weeks later with a reception in L.A. It was fun," a source told E! News of the party. "Very low key and casual."
And while Megan said being a missus "feels great," it didn't completely change anything in the relationship. "I just get to introduce him as my husband now."
And now, Megan gets to introduce him as Viola Philomena's daddy! Congratulations to the happy family.
