Jason Aldean is opening up about relationship with former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr and all the drama surrounding the rather public affair.

"It has been two years of this s--t—get over it, already!" he exclaimed in this week's issue of Billboard.

"And then when I finally go get enough of it and say something, every newspaper grabs it. And I'm not trying to get in the headlines—I'm just trying to get people to stop running their mouths."

The then-married country singer and Kerr were first linked after they were caught kissing in public in September 2012.

Aldean later apologized for his behavior on Facebook, saying he "screwed up" and "had too much to drink" that night.

"I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."

The following month, he told E! News he was "workin' through" his marital issues with his wife, Jessica Ussery.

He added that he and Ussery were trying to move past the "unfortunate" situation, saying, "We're tryin' to move on, that's the biggest thing. And, hopefully, people will allow us the privacy to do that—and that's kinda it."

The high school sweethearts—who have two children together—broke up less than a year later.

Aldean and Kerr made their red carpet debut at the 2014 CMT Awards in Nashville earlier this year.

Aldean also shared he looks to his close palLuke Bryan for inspiration on how to keep a strong head in the midst of chaos and fame.

"One of my best friends in the world is Luke…he walks around smiling all the time. I'm the complete opposite," he shared.

"I hope people feel like what you see is what you get with me. I don't try to be something I'm not. It's too much work to try to be someone else."
