Even with the fanciest new gadget, there's always room for human error!

Just ask Jack Cooksey, the young man who purchased the first iPhone 6 from an Apple store in Perth, Australia, Friday. Jack was being interviewed by a reporter as he opened the box for the very first time, so when he accidentally dropped his new technological treasure to the ground, it was broadcast on live TV!

Collective gasps came from the crowd (to the point where you would've thought he dropped a baby from a third story window) as Jack dove on to the pavement to retrieve his iPhone 6. As shown in the clip above (excerpted by Today), he reassured the reporter and crowd around him everything was "all good," but in their eyes, it seemed, the damage had already been done!

Cooksey's iPhone 6 did, indeed, survive the tumble. "Luckily it's covered in plastic, so it's fine," he said afterwards, per Perth Now. "I dropped it in a panic to get it open!"

"I just can't wait to open it again," he said, "and not drop it."

Just to be safe, we'd recommend getting a case! Maybe Jack's harrowing experience with his iPhone 6 will earn him a gig as the new Mac guy—assuming, of course, this whole snafu wasn't an Apple-launched promotional stunt to begin with...
