Prince William isn't a bad backup option!

Kate Middleton will no longer travel to Malta this weekend. It would have been her first solo trip. Per Clarence House's Twitter, her husband, 32, "will undertake the visit instead." The Duchess of Cambridge "continues to suffer from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The decision was taken on the advice of doctors."

While pregnant with her 13-month-old Prince George, 32-year-old Middleton suffered from acute morning sickness, requiring medical care. The condition returned when she got pregnant a second time.

William recently told royal admirers that his wife is "feeling OK."

Though Middleton will be M.I.A., Clarence House tweeted, "The Duke of Cambridge is honored to represent The Queen on the visit, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malta's Independence." Regardless, Kensington Palace confirmed that "the visit itinerary remains unchanged."

The first scheduled event will take place at San Anton Palace, where William will be meet the President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca. He will also meet Joseph Muscat, the Prime Minister of Malta.

The future King of England will also watch a historical reenactment of military events, review historical documents at the National Library and celebrate Malta's Independence Day with an evening party.

On Sunday, William's day will begin with a church service at St. John's Co-Cathedral. After that, he'll visit the government's Agenzija Zghazagh, tour Vittoriosa Square and view local art at St. Lawrence's Church. His itinerary also includes a Grande Harbour boat ride, which offers views of Vittoriosa and Valletta. The visit will end with the British High Commissioner's Garden Party at the High Commissioner's Residence.
