Welcome to the D.A., bitch.

As expected, Mischa Barton pleaded no contest Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence in a deal designed to spare the starlet from any jail time in the wake of her December bust.

The 22-year-old former O.C. star was not present in the Beverly Hills courthouse, instead dispatching her attorney, Anthony Salerno, to enter the plea on her behalf.

"She realized that she made a youthful mistake," Salerno told E! News. "She is pleased with this outcome. She understands the gravity of this but is glad that this is resolved."

In exchange for fessing up to the driving indiscretion, prosecutors dropped a charge of marijuana possession and reduced a count of of driving with an invalid license—which, as it turns out, was not so much invalid as nonexistent—to an infraction.

Superior Court Judge H. Chester Horn Jr. sentenced Barton to three years' unsupervised probation, told her to take a three-month alcohol-education class and ordered her to pay a $1,652 fine and additional fees of $312.

Barton must complete her alcohol-education program by Sept. 17.

The actress was first busted in the early morning hours of Dec. 27 in West Hollywood after officers spotted her SUV straddling two lanes and failing to signal before making a left turn. She was held for several hours and released after posting $10,000 bail.
