Candice Bergen is heading to Battle Creek: Murphy Brown herself will play Constance a con artist, E! News has learned.

Bergen's character is described as charming, quick-witted and clever and she comes in to help Milt (Josh Duhamel) and Russ (Dean Winters) on a case. Oh, and to make matters more interesting, she's also Russ' mother!

Bergen will appear in the seventh episode of the new CBS series.

Battle Creek hails from Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan and House creator David Shore and follows two mismatched law enforcement officers—Milt Chamberlain of the FBI and Russ Agnew of the Battle Creek Police Department—who couldn't be more different. The midseason drama also stars Damages veteran Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Edward Fordham Jr. and Aubrey Dollar.

It's a House reunion for Shore and Bergen—she played Arlene Cuddy in a number of episodes of the Fox series. Bergen's other credits include The Michael J. Fox Show, Boston Legal and Sex and the City. She has been nominated for nine Emmys total and took home five for Murphy Brown.

In the premiere of Battle Creek, which has yet to be scheduled, Special Agent Milton Chamberlain opens an FBI field office at the local police station and Russ becomes his partner. It's a shock to the system for all in Battle Creek when the playboy-esque FBI agent hits town.

Bryan Singer, who serves as an executive producer on the series, directed the pilot episode.
