Athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA and more have made plenty of unsavory headlines over the years

Sunday football came with an asterisk this past week. As did Thursday Night Football. And Monday Night Football.

The entire NFL emerged the worse for wear after a video emerged showing now former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Rice punching then-fiancée-and-now-wife Janay Palmer, calling into question why Rice had previously only received a two-game suspension after being arrested for assault. (He agreed to complete a diversion program so that the charges would ultimately be dropped.) He was cut by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL the day the video was posted by TMZ, but...

Too little too late?

And then, on Friday, it turned out that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had been indicted in Texas on a charge of injuring a child in connection with corporal punishment he admitted to inflicting on his own son.

But these guys certainly aren't the only ones who didn't turn out to be a poster boy for honorable behavior among professional athletes.
