Mindy Kaling has a pretty full schedule writing and starring in Fox's hit comedy The Mindy Project, which returns for a third season Tuesday. But does her TV workload keep her from pursuing other movie roles?

"No one ever calls me in to audition for things because I'm so specific," Kaling, 35, admitted on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live Sunday. Kaling did, however, reveal that she was in the running to have a role in Bridesmaids, "which was a movie I loved. It was for Maya Rudolph's part. I practiced it so much and was so into it and I loved that whole cast." The actress added, "That was one that was a heartbreaker."

Kaling joked that she's been offered "a lot of searing dramas, like 12 Years a Slave. I was like, 'I can't do it! Tell [Lupita Nyong'o] to do it. I don't have the time.' [Michael Fassbender] was mad. It was a thing."

Host Andy Cohen fired back, "It wound up being hilarious!"

Watch: Kristen Wiig Addresses "Bridesmaids 2" Rumors

Meanwhile, Bridesmaids star and co-writer Kristen Wiig stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday. Once again, the 41-year-old comic shot down rumors that she's developing a sequel to the 2011 hit. "We are writing something else that's very different," Wiig said, referring to writing partner Annie Mumolo.

"You really won't do another Bridesmaids?" host Ellen DeGeneres asked.

"No, I think it's OK to have it just be what it was," Wiig replied. "I appreciate that people want us to do another one, but...it's just something we knew when we did the first one. It just felt very special and fun."
