One of the most famous cartoon Scots has plenty to say about the upcoming vote about Scotland's proposed independence.

The Simpsons' hot-headed Groundskeeper Willie voices his opinions on the referendum, set to take place on Sept. 18, in a video posted by FOX this week.

The beloved animated character, who is voiced on the show by Dan Castellaneta, who portrays main star Homer Simpson, makes several valid points as he gets more and more worked up. Willie notes one of Scotland's biggest financial draws ("Notice how in no country rich in oil do the men wear pants") and a common stereotype about its people ("We also make a fine damn whiskey").

He even proposes that he should be chosen to "stand in the grand tradition of William Wallace" as the leader of the new, proposed nation, offering a logical explanation why he is the best person for the role.

"Willie won't back down to world leaders because I haven't a clue who they are—and I'm not willing to learn!" he says.

And he even throws in some shade at past U.S. leaders, just for good measure.

Recent polls show that slightly more than half of voting residents of Scotland favor remaining part of the United Kingdom. If Scotland breaks away from the country following its 307-year-old union to become independent, the U.K., which is also made up of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, would lose more than 5.2 million citizens.

At least 200 non-animated famous figures have voiced their opposition to having Scotland break away from the U.K. The list includes Judi DenchMick Jagger and Sir Patrick Stewart. Supporters of Scottish independence include Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery.
