Keith Urban cancelled a show Thursday night to be by Nicole Kidman's side following the news of her father's sudden death.
The 46-year-old country crooner was schedule to perform last night at a charity event at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. On the way to the show, Urban was informed of the tragic news and swiftly rushed to be with his wife at their home in Nashville, Urban's rep confirms to E! News.
Kidman's father, Tony Kidman, died while visiting the 47-year-old Oscar winner's sister, Antonia Marran, who lives in Singapore with her husband and six children. Kidman's publicist confirmed Tony fell in a hotel room but had no other details.
"Police are investigating the unnatural death," a local spokesman said.
"Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father," Kidman's rep additionally told E! News in a statement. "She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time. Thank you."
Tony was a clinical psychologist at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. In response to the news of his tragic passing, vice-chancellor professor Attila Brungs told the local press, "During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly—as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner. Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."
