George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin will indeed tie the knot, but the lovebirds nuptials aren't going down in London today.

Reports have been circulating claiming that the A-list couple will wed in a secret ceremony in the U.K. on Friday, but E! News confirms there's no truth to the rumors.

"We can confirm that The Chelsea Registry Office is NOT conducting the wedding of Mr Clooney at the office on Friday 12 September," Emma Strugnell, a public information officer for Chelsea tells E! News in a statement.

According to reports, photographers gathered outside Chelsea's Old Town Hall early this morning in anticipation of the good-looking duo saying "I do." But shutterbugs who were hoping to snap a shot of the happy couple were not only met with disappointment, but they also received a notice, signed by additional superintendent registrar Dan Geoghegan, which read:

"We have assisted in the legal preliminaries for a proposed wedding for George Clooney and his fiancee. We do not give out details of the date or time of any wedding ceremony. A certificate of no impediment was applied for and has been issued as no objection was raised.

"In this case we actually have no record of when the wedding will take place as it was not necessary to ask in order to facilitate the issue of the documents.

The missive concluded by asking the press to "not attend" any ceremonies being conducted at the office as it "would only cause possible disruption to other couples getting married on this day."

Meanwhile, the soon-to-be husband and wife made their first red carpet appearance at the Celebrity Fight Night Gala in Florence, Italy, on Sunday, where the Oscar-winning actor not only revealed that he and Amal, 36, are planning to tie the knot in Venice, but he also didn't hold back while professing his love for the Beirut-born London lawyer.

"I've met my bride-to-be in Italy and I will be married in Italy soon, in a couple of weeks. In Venice of all places!" the 53-year-old hunk, who popped the question in late April after barely seven months of dating, told the crowd while accepting the Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award. "In closing, I guess what I would like to say is to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much and I can't wait to be your husband."

As for Amal's reaction to her man's sweet love confession?

"She seemed so touched and overwhelmed and at that moment they looked right at each other and it was as if there was no one else in the room," a guest told E! News.

The partygoer continued, "They're one of those couples that crackle with sparkling wit when they're in each other's company and bounce off each other. She's make a joke, he'd roar with laugher and then add a punch line too and she'd laugh. They had their entire table laughing as well as people who came up to them throughout the night…You can see why they're getting married and it's all happening so quickly.

"George and Amal are one of those couples that are meant to be together. It's so wonderful to see two people together who've obviously found their soul mate."

This is the second marriage for Clooney and the first for Alamuddin.
