Prince Harry's trek to the Invictus Games Thursday took a frightening turn of events.

Per the U.K.'s Telegraph, one of the royal's police outriders collided head on with a taxi on central London's Prince Albert Road. The driver of the Range Rover carrying Harry took "evasive action," according to one witness, and, "apparently fearing a potential terrorist attack [on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2011 attacks in the United States], steered his vehicle through the damaged vehicles at speed before coming to a stop a several hundred feet up the road."

Per the Telegraph, Harry, who turns 30 on Monday, was insistent they stop, but security advice was for them to drive on. Bodyguards not in the prince's Range Rover, however, helped treat the police rider as well as the man in the white Toyota Prius taxi.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said Thursday night that that while the motorcade rider and taxi driver both required medical treatment, neither's injuries were "considered life threatening at this stage." Per the Telegraph, the motorcade rider was discharged Thursday night and the other driver is in "stable" condition.

"Officers from the Met's Road Traffic Investigation Unit are investigating," added the Scotland Yard spokesman. "Enquiries continue and no arrests have been made."

As for Harry? "The prince was obviously very concerned and wanted to make sure the men were OK," a spokesperson for the royal told the Telegraph Thursday night. "He is relieved to hear they are both in a stable condition."
