The two crooners are in the middle of falling out rumors after speculation that the Prism singer was suggesting that she's the person T.Swift complained about in her recent Rolling Stone interview through a cryptic tweet posted early today. "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..." Perry tweeted Tuesday. (Or perhaps Perry was just watching Mean Girls on Netflix?)
The ex-country star, without naming any names (natch), talked about the inspiration for the song "Bad Blood" (which appears on her new album, 1989) saying it had to do with a fellow singer who allegedly did her dirty. "It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me," Swift told the mag.
Well, if the Kaylor (or Tayty? We're making it up as we go) rumors are true, it's only fitting that we mourn the death of their friendship by looking back at some of their shining moments...
2008: The young singing stars are all smiles alongside fellow pop star Miley Cyrus while on the red carpet at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.
2009: Katy and Taylor meet up at the Grammys, where Perry somehow convinced the blond beauty to give her a lock of her hair. "One of the first times I went to the Grammys, I got to share a dressing room with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift," Perry recalled years later, "and I asked them for a lock of their hair from each one of them, which is totally creepy, but awesome."
And apparently Cyrus and Swift both obliged because, "I put little bows on them individually and put them in my purse. And that was my little secret and I'm a freak!" Perry giddily acknowledged.
Later in the year, the two gal-pals were caught by shutterbugs sharing a sweet embrace after having dinner together in London.
2010: The year they seemed at the peak of their friendship? The twosome posed for photographs together at the Grammys once again. Perry also praised her friend during an interview with Nylon magazine, "Sometimes I really feel like I'm more of a Taylor Swift. She tells stories, and I think that's why she resonates with a lot of people. She hits the hidden chord in them [where they say], ‘Oh my God, I've been through that too,' or ‘You said it in a way I could never explain.'"
Katy even made a surprise appearance at T.Swift's Los Angeles concert and the duo performed "Hot N Cold" together.
2011: Perry congratulates Swift for winning 2011 American Music Award's Artist of the Year with a big hug.
The pair also shared their love for cats on Twitter. "OH MY GOSH. Is this kitty for real?!?! RT @taylorswift13: Hanging out with my new roommate, Meredith," Katy wrote, as well as, "I want to cuddle that kitten so hard! Miss u :) K.I.T! RT @taylorswift13: @katyperry YES! And currently chasing her own tail. PS I miss you!"
2012: The big love triangle! Katy begins dating Taylor's ex-boyfriend John Mayer. The on-again, off-again relationship goes on for two years.
2013: Taylor and Katy run into each other backstage at the 2013 Grammy Awards (which Perry attended with Mayer) and everything seemed friendly, but could this be the run-in Swift was talking about in her Rolling Stone interview?
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" Then last year, the other star apparently crossed a line, according to Swift. "She did something so horrible, I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy!"
2014: There don't seem to be any photos of Taylor and Katy together, and rumors of a falling out hit the Internet (please see the top of the article for reference).
