It's official: James Corden is the new host of The Late Late Show. Corden will replace Craig Fergusonon the program in March 2015. Corden's first day as host of The Late Late Show with James Corden will be Monday, March 9. The show will tape in Los Angeles with Ben Winston serving as the executive producer, CBS announced on October 23.

"We're excited to begin CBS's next chapter after midnight and introduce James' wide range of performance talents and fearless creative instincts to American television viewers," Nina Tassler, chairman of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement announcing the premiere date. "He and Ben have been friends for a long time and partnered together on a variety of successful projects. They are a creatively dynamic and very energetic host/producer combination."

"I can't describe how thrilled and honored I am to be taking over from the brilliant Craig Ferguson," the Tony and BAFTA winner said in a statement when he was announced as host. "To be asked to host such a prestigious show on America's No. 1 network is hugely exciting. I can't wait to get started, and will do my very best to make a show America will enjoy."

Corden, 36, starred opposite Mark Ruffalo and Kiera Knightley in Begin Again this summer and will appear opposite Anna Kendrick and Meryl Streep in Into the Woods this December.

"James Corden is a rare entertainment force who combines irresistible charm, warmth and originality with a diverse range of creative instincts and performance talent," Tassler said in September. "He is the ultimate multi-hyphenate—a writer, creator and performer who is loved and respected in every medium he touches, including theater, comedy, music, film and television. James is already a big star in the U.K. and he's wowed American audiences on Broadway; we're very excited to introduce his considerable and very unique talents to our network television audience on a daily basis."

Corden hosts the U.K. sports-themed comedy series A League of Their Own and stars in the BBC/Hulu series The Wrong Mans. He won a Tony for One Man, Two Guvnors and co-created the hit U.K. comedy Gavin and Stacey. He also starred in the series, winning a BAFTA for his work on the comedy.

Ferguson will sign off from hosting duties in December with Corden set to take over in 2015. Producers and location for The Late Late Show With James Corden will be announced at a later date.
