The duchess, 32, was supposed to accompany her hubby, also 32, at the opening of the China Centre at Oxford University Monday. However, because she is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (as she did during her first pregnancy), she had to cancel, and Prince George's father went solo to this royal engagement.
William was all smiles, though, as well-wishers greeted him outside the center. The prince said he was "thrilled" about his and Kate's baby news, adding, however, that it's been "a difficult few days." He also addressed those at the opening of the center Kate "is sorry to miss it [the opening], and she hopes to come back in the future to meet you all for herself."
One 2-year-old girl handed the royal a bouquet of flowers. Per the Oxford Mail, William "asked if they were for Kate and we said yes they are," the youngster's father said, explaining that his daughter handpicked the flowers for Kate because she heard she was sick.
The duchess will surely appreciate the sweet gesture now that she's not feeling 100 percent. Per a statement from the palace, the pregnant royal is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace for Hyperemesis Gravidarum. During her first pregnancy, hospitalization was required.
No doubt, though, the royal staff, William and baby George will make sure mommy gets some extra TLC!
