While it's only been less than a day since it was announced that Rosie Perez is joining The View as a brand-new co-host, there was one person who wanted Perez on the show months ago: former View co-host Sherri Shepherd!

Back in June at the 13th Annual Samsung Hope for Children Gala in NYC, E! News spoke to Shepherd about who she thought should replace Barbara Walters on the longstanding morning show.

"I would love to see a Latina sit at the table," Shepherd told E!. "Rosie Perez would be amazing. I always try to put the hit on Rosie."

And low and behold, Shepherd's prediction came true!

Yesterday, ABC confirmed that Perez, along with political commentator Nicolle Wallace, would be joining The View.

"These are powerful and accomplished women from different walks of life who have had amazing personal and professional experiences. Each brings incredible perspective and information to the table," said Bill Wolff, executive producer. "This mix of smart, vibrant and energetic women is unlike anything else on daytime television."
