Apparently Aaron Carter couldn't wait to get to the party.
The 20-year-old singer was arrested Thursday in Texas on suspicion of drug possession after cops pulled him over for speeding and allegedly found marijuana in his Cadillac Escalade.
Per the Kimble County Sheriff's Office, Carter was still in custody Thursday night in anticipation of his arraignment Friday morning.
Sheriff Mike Chapman said the Aaron's Party purveyor was driving alone when he stopped in Junction at about noon. Officers found less than 2 ounces of pot in the vehicle, he said.
In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Carter's manager explained: "On his way to Florida bringing his two dogs to live on a large ranch, Aaron Carter was detained today in Texas by a trooper for exceeding the speed limit by 5 mph. A search revealed a small amount of marijuana, a misdemeanor in this state. He is posting bail and will return to Los Angeles. He sincerely regrets any embarrassment this caused to his family, friends and fans."
Minus the tender-aged actor's current legal trouble, and aside from having supposedly caused a catty rift between Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, Carter has steered clear of major controversy for the most part.
He recently starred on the E! reality series House of Carters along with big brother Nick and, according to his MySpace blog, he's been taking time out to cultivate his love of producing—both his own music and that of other artists. (E! Online is a division of E! Entertainment Television.)
"I spend most of my time in my studio and I will soon be posting some of my new stuff so that everyone can see how much I've been focusing on my music," Carter wrote, adding that he a potential first single called "Ride It" is in the works.
