At age 75, Jon Voight never really thought he'd be in another sex scene.
But there he is in Ray Donovan. The Oscar winner plays Ray's hard-partying ex-con father who has a penchant for women's booties.
"It's disgusting," Voight cracks about his NSFW scenes. "You take an old guy and throw him in there—come on!"
Voight has earned critical praise and award nominations for his work in the Showtime series.
"It's fun," he told me recently. "We're all enjoying it. The actors I work with are terrific."
The show centers on Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber), a South Boston native who is a "fixer" for a powerful law firm in Los Angeles.
Voight plays his troublemaking father, Mickey. (The rest of the cast is stellar, but I have to give a special shoutout to Irish actress Paula Malcomson, whose portrayal of Ray's wife Abby is pure genius. If Ray and Abby ever divorce, there better be an Abby Donovan spinoff.)
It was announced last week that the show has been picked up for a third season.
"I have no idea," Voight said when asked what's in store for next season. "I was really excited what we go into this season. I couldn't figure out where we were going to go but the adventure was quite something."
