We're still recovering from the news that everyone's favorite feline cartoon character Hello Kitty is not—we repeat not!—a cat. In fact, the 40-year-old Sanrio-created character isn't even Japanese, she's British!
Sanrio confirmed the shocking news yesterday by saying, "Hello Kitty is not a cat, she's a girl." Lies!
Needless to say, fans we're overwhelmed by the life-changing news. Many celebs even took to Twitter to react to the news.
"IT'S OKAY HELLO KITTY FANS, KITTY PURRY IS A CAT," Katy Perry wrote on Twitter.
Ryan Seacrest also tweeted, "Has anyone alerted @AvrilLavigne to this hello kitty news?"
"Hello Kitty is a cat. She has whiskers and a cat nose," Josh Groban added. "Girls don't look like that. Stop this nonsense."
Comedian Billy Eichner wrote, "Finding out Hello Kitty is not a cat is Taylor Swift's holocaust."
