Britney's Crime of Fashion?

Las Vegas fashion consultant sues Spears for $50,000 in unpaid sartorial services

On the bright side, Britney Spears might not be responsible for her dubious sartorial choices...

Of course, her tireless legal crew might not be of the glass-half-full persuasion now that it has to deal with another court-bound headache.

A Las Vegas fashion consultant has filed suit against the "Gimme More" singer, seeking more than $50,000 in compensation, along with other monetary damages and attorneys' fees, alleging that Spears has failed to pay for services rendered over the past five months.

Nancy Rosu filed the complaint Jan. 18 in Clark County District Court, alleging she has toiled for Spears and her children since August 2006 but hasn't been paid since August 2007.

Per the filing, Rosu's duties as a fashion consultant include prepurchasing clothing for Spears with the reasonable expectation that any items ultimately approved by and delivered to the singer would result in payment for the duds and a little extra something-something for Rosu's efforts.

For the past five months, however, Rosu claims she's spent between $30,000-$40,000 on clothes shipped off to Casa Spears but has yet to receive any form of payment. The stylist says she has tried in vain for the past two months to contact Spears' ever-rotating roster of personal assistants and accountants.

Rosu's attorney, Natricia Tricano, said that despite the legal action, Rosu still hoped to maintain a professional relationship with the star.

"There's no ill will or hard feelings," Tricano told the Las Vegas Review Journal, before understating, "I know she's got a lot of things going on in her life."

Spears may be wise to make Rosu happy—2007 was the first time in many years that Mr. Blackwell did not include the fashion-challenged star on his Worst Dressed List. (Though, he qualified her absence as a pity pass, owing to the fact that his list came out about the same time she was hospitalized for her custody standoff earlier this month.)

Rosu's charges of nonpayment aren't the first to dog the star in recent days.

Although initial reports suggested Spears' early-morning Jan. 17 shopping spree in the ultratrendy Kitson resulted in several thousand dollars' worth of comped designer goods, the store has maintained that the excursion was definitely not on the house.

Sources tell E! News that Spears left the Robertson Boulevard premises without paying for her pricey haul, and that Kitson has made attempts to invoice her for the goods.
