Lucy Lawless is heading into battle on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she'll be suiting up in a different kind of armor. The Xena: Warrior Princess star will play Agent Isabelle Hartley in the second season of the ABC series.

After the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, S.H.I.E.L.D. is no more. But Lawless' character, a seasoned S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, meets up with Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the second season to help rebuild the organization.

Lawless' other TV credits include Battlestar Galactica, Parks and Recreation and guest bits across genre fair including The X-Files and Veronica Mars. She's not the only new face joining the Marvel series for season two.

Adrianne Palicki will finally get to play a superhero when she takes on the role of Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird, in the Marvel Comics universe. Palicki was previously cast as Wonder Woman in NBC's failed pilot surrounding the DC Comics character. Twin Peaks veteran Kyle MacLachlan will paly Skye's (Chloe Bennet) dad, Reed Diamond has been tapped to play a Hydra villain and Nick Blood will also guest star. Henry Simmons and Simon Kassianides are also on board for season two.

In the villain department we'll also meet the Absorbing Man. Teen Wolf's Brian Patrick Wade will play Carl "Crusher" Creel in the new season.
