The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has finally been Sherlocked! You're. Welcome.

On second thought, you may want to direct your thank-yous to Tom Hiddleston and two actresses, as they were the ones who issued the Ice Bucket Challenge to fellow British hottie Benedict Cumberbatch. The Sherlock, The Hobbit and Star Trek Into Darkness star (and recent addition to the cast of The Jungle Book: Origins), who does not have a public social media account, has finally come through...and in a big way.

Scores of celebrities have in recent days shared similar clips over the past week to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease and motor neuron disease. Cumberbatch is a Motor Neurone Disease Association ambassador and his video was posted on the group's YouTube page on Friday. The ALS Association said that day it has received $53.3. million in donations from July 29 to Thursday, compared to $2.2 million during the same time period last year.

In the belated but spectacular video, Cumberbatch gets splashed with freezing water more than once and in different locations, including...

on a motorcycle (he drives a motorcycle!)...

and (bless his dear heart) in the shower!

The popular 38-year-old heartthrob even appears to give us a sneak peek at his undergarments as he strips down.

Cumberbatch had last year had delighted fans around the world with a deleted shower scene from Star Trek Into Darkness, for which he bulked up to play the villain Khan, that was shown on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Hiddleston, best known for his role as Loki in the Thor movies, took on the Ice Bucket Challenge earlier this week (bonus: in a white T-shirt) and nominated Cumberbatch and the actor's The Hobbit co-star Luke Evans to go next. The latter star did, days later.

Cumberbatch had also been challenged by Juno Temple, who starred with him in the movies Atonement and The Other Boleyn Girl, and Adelaide Clemens, who played his lover in the miniseries Parade's End.

"Well done, Ben," Hiddleston tweeted.
