Anne Hathaway was a little late to the party, but she made quite a splash when she finally joined Instagram Thursday!

But instead of posting a cutesy selfie or artsy picture of her vegan lunch, the 31-year-old Oscar winner turned her debut on the social media site into something meaningful. How? By accepting Giancarlo Giammetti's offer and completing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!

The smiling, fresh-faced Instagram newbie squealed as she dumped a bucket of ice water over her head in what appeared to be a shower, also urging her fans and followers, "Please be sure to donate to this great cause" at alsa.org. She also nominated Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Stewart and Joan Rivers to take the challenge, too!

Anne is one of many celebrities doing their part to raise awareness and encourage public funding to #StrikeOUtALS. Shia LaBeouf also lent his name (and buff bod) to the cause Thursday, posting a YouTube video of himself stoically accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. He even nominated New York artist (and frequent Lady Gaga collaborator) Marina Abramović to take the challenge next!

Mark Wahlberg, wife Rhea Wahlberg and three of their adorable kids accepted the challenge as well, collectively nominating Spike Lee, Eminem, boxer Manny Pacquiao, Shailene Woodley and Jay Z. (Spoiler alert: Marky Mark takes his shirt off at the end!)

Also doing his part to raise awareness and funds for ALS research? Jamie Foxx, whose daughter Annalise Foxx had the honors of dumping the ice water on dad's head! The actor challenged his daughter to take the challenge herself, too, also calling upon Drake and Channing Tatum to support the cause.

Rachael Ray and the entire staff of her show gamely accepted MSNBC host Thomas Roberts' challenge, also urging fans to join her in donating and raising awareness for ALS.

50 Cent accepted Ludacris and Bow Wow's challenge (warning: video's a little NSFW due to language) and in turn, nominated Omarion and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Vice President Joe Biden, on the other hand, didn't accept Julia Louis-Dreyfus' challenge to dump ice over his head. Instead, he donated.

Every bit helps!
