Despite their public appearances and highly-documented lives, little is known about the private lifes of the British royal family.
But in The Royals, a new show coming to E! in early 2015, audiences will get the chance to go behind the gilded gates of the royal family for a voyeuristic look at what takes place in the privacy of the palace with a fictional royal family.
In an exclusive interview with TODAY, Elizabeth Hurley (who plays Queen Helena), dished on the upcoming series. "The beauty of this show is that we go behind closed doors," she said. "This is an extreme, sexy adventure into royalty."
The show also stars William Moseley as Prince Liam, who becomes next in line for the throne after the sudden death of his older brother and finds himself at the center of his mother's disapproval when he falls for an American girl.
To add even more drama to the mix, legend Joan Collins has also been cast in the project and will play the part of the Queen's mother—a role that she couldn't be more perfect for.
But brace yourselves, because this modern version of the royal family is so provocative and wild that even Elizabeth is on the edge of her seat.
"For me, this is like sex, drugs and rock 'n roll in Windsor Castle," she pointed out. "You need to want to see drama and heightened stuff and a lot of glamour. If that's your bag, you might get lucky."
Tune-in for the exciting premiere of The Royals coming to E! in early 2015!
