    Christian Bale, Naomie Harris and Cate Blanchett Join Warner Bros.' Star-Studded Jungle Book: Origins

    Benedict Cumberbatch isn't the only A-list addition to The Jungle Book: Origins.

    E! News has confirmed that Christian Bale, Naomie Harris and Cate Blanchett have each signed on to star in Warner Bros.' movie. The casting was first revealed by The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday. The website also reports that Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Peter Mullan will round out the ensemble.

    Rohan Chand will star as the human boy, Mowgli. Andy Serkis will pull double duty by directing and voicing Baloo, a bear. Bale will voice Begheera, a panther, while Cumberbatch will voice Shere Khan, a tiger. Blanchett will voice Kaa, a python, and Hollander will voice Tabaqui, a jackal. Mullan will voice the wolf pack leader, Akela. Harris will voice the female wolf, Nisha, and Marsan will voice her mate, Vihaan.

    In theaters Oct. 21, 2016, the movie will employ a mix of motion capture, CG animation and live-action.

    Walt Disney Pictures is also adapting Rudyard Kipling's fables for the big screen. Jon Favreau will direct. The cast includes Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha, Neel Sethi as Mowgli and Christopher Walken as King Louie. The movie will be out a year before Warner Bros. version, with a release date set for Oct. 9, 2015.
