The world's littlest hero looks pretty mighty!

On Tuesday, Marvel released the first picture of Paul Rudd in character as Scott Lang from Ant-Man. It was taken this week and shows the hooded hero near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Calif.

The movie still arrives one day after Marvel announced that Boardwalk Empire's Bobby Cannavale, 13 Going on 30's Judy Greer, Mad Men's John Slattery and rapper T.I. have joined the film's cast. In the movie, the titular hero will shrink his size while increasing his strength in order to battle the villainous Yellowjacket, played by House of Cards' Corey Stoll. Four-time Golden Globe winner Michael Douglas has been cast as Dr. Hank Pym, an entomologist and physicist who invents the Ant-Man technology and mentors Scott. The Hobbit's Evangeline Lily, meanwhile, will play Douglas' daughter, Hope Van Dyne.

Peyton Reed replaced original director Edgar Wright in May.

When Rudd attended San Diego Comic-Con in July with Douglas, Lilly, Reed and Stoll, he jokingly offered a suggestion as to how the movie might revamp the character's origin story. "Everybody knows that the number-one characteristic of Ant-Man is that he has Lyme disease," he told MTV. "When he was small, he was attacked by a giant tick. Now I have to shrink down to get back at all those damn deer ticks."

"That's what it says on the one-sheet," he quipped. "'Ant-Man: You Damn Deer Ticks!'"

Ant-Manis scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Marvel Studios' release schedule also includes Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015; Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016; and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on July 28, 2017.
